THAW is an Arthouse film that is made for queer & trans audiences, women, & fans of romance, coming-of-age, and suspense films. It presents a new American folk tale, embracing expressionistic and fantastic tones.
The film continues a predominant cinematic and narrative tradition of isolation as a space for queer intimacy (Brokeback Mountain, Call Me By Your Name, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Carol), fusing the sub-genre with explicit exploration of gender. With 25% of LGBTQ+ youth now identifying as non-binary and/or trans, there is more demand, interest, and need than ever before for original LGBTQ+ narratives by LGBTQ+ filmmakers. It is also following traditions of domestic suspense and romance, catering to audiences beyond the LGBTQ+ demographic. Its atmospheric, theatrical tone positions it firmly as a confident, fresh work of arthouse cinema. Target age for this film is 15-45.
THAW is being positioned for an international festival run, focusing heavily on the hundreds of LGBTQ+-focused festivals around the world to gain funding for the feature, being produced in the 2023/2024 season.
The Savior, the Sick, & the Golden One is an inherently scrappy independent film targeted towards the me's of the cinematic realm! The young action lovers who can’t connect with guns, the genre benders (Fargo, Kajillionaire, Petite Maman.) It is rough and small and visually charismatic, while also churning through a high intensity, high velocity world.
Investigating class is a must when the country we live in is owned and operated by 1% of those who dwell here. Through a tight knit trio of siblings, we can explore how the system is rigged against so many, no matter how much they need help. We must talk about class if we are going to make change on a political, medical, and personal level. It begins here, with versions of people who grew up like me and so many in this country. This project is a small part of giving those who the health care and class system have failed a voice.
The Savior, the Sick, & the Golden One is intended to fulfill the 2022-2023 festival circuit in order to aim for a 2023/2024 feature length shoot.
